Letter home – May 16, 1943

Maybe we will get a little rest now and I will be able to catch up on my writing. I believe I have told you before that I have received all of the packages that you have sent me. Thanks a million. I had saved all of your letters and that was going to answer all of the questions that you had asked me, than I had to get rid of them so now you will have to write and ask me questions all over again. You know! I have seen a city here the size of Champaign just level with the ground and bomb craters that are big enough to hide of our whole house in. This is about all I can write on this sheet so I will try and write you a long letter on regular paper. Say mom and dad could you send me some V-Mail forms they are pretty hard to get here. Goodbye to you both and I love you very much.
Your son “Chick”
