Today is Mel’s birthday, also Rita’s. Worked all day on my property books. Went into town to a show.
July 6, 1944 – Thursday
Went to see Vince, Miner, and Ross. They are all feeling swell. Worked all day on my books, and went in to Pozzuoli to a show. John Wayne in “The Fighting Sea Bees”. It was real good.

The company left this morning for Gaeta to clear mines. We are to stay behind. Have a lot of book work to do in the supply room. Wrote a letter and went to bed.
