November 2, 1944 – Thursday
Not much to do today. Did a few odd jobs. It started snowing last night and the ground was covered with snow this morning. Played a little cards tonight.
November 1, 1944 – Wednesday

October 31, 1944 – Tuesday
We got in our shoe packs today. They should help keep our feet warm a little while anyway. Spent most of the day issuing them out. Wrote a letter home and that’s all.
October 30, 1944 – Monday
Today was about the same as yesterday. Boy, is the artillery ever moving in. We have as much artillery here as we did at Anzio. Wrote some letters and read a book.

October 29, 1944 – Sunday
Today is Sunday, but just another day. Chopped a lot of wood today and the exercise did me a little good. Did a little work and wrote a few letters. Received a package from home.
October 28, 1944 – Saturday
It rained all night last night, but the sun is out this morning. How long it will stay out I don’t know. Received a letter from Pat. The mail is surely slow. The company is doing its usual mine sweeping.
October 27, 1944 – Friday
It was miserable all day today. The company is working on a road through the forest. We built a fire but I kept pretty warm just chopping wood for it. Played some cards and went to bed.
