Very interesting. Two of my uncles, Adrian and Ted Moga, were in the 3rd Division from Ft. Lewis, Ft. Ord, North Africa, Italy, etc. They have both passed, but I will pass this on to their son.

it is interesting to read more about every day life of the American soldier stationed in N Africa/Italy. Thanks for publishing these diaries/letters.

My grandfather was in a tank battalion in N. Africa and later Italy. He died in 05, he rarely talked about the war. He spoke to me more than any other family member about it (I'm the history buff), but still I don't know that much about Africa

Hi Chick, I remember in school year 1961-62 when you came to speak to us in Mrs. Dorsey's eighth grade class at Holy Cross. I don't remember a word you said on that day 51 years ago, but I carry the feeling you left; that a man of honor spoke

Hi there, buddy! I just saw you on TV. What a pleasant surprise! I haven't read anything here yet, but definitely will.
Thanks for all the encouragement you gave to Woody and I when we were just "kids". At least that's what you called us

Mr. Burns, Sir - it is an honor and pleasure reading about you. My beloved father, was a WWII veteran as well. Daddy's unit was 294th Combat Engineers. He came in on the first wave on Utah on D-day. He also fought in the Ardennes.

Hi Chickie,
I just figured out how to read your fascinating diary. We are all so proud of you, and so lucky that you came home safely. The war seems to be heating up with bombs around. I hope your sweet Rita wrote you more often. Love Carroll

Hi Uncle Chick,
What a wonderful project; I intend to do something along similar lines with Snook's letters to Geneva. Speaking of, I have at least one that describes his trip to see you in Italy. May I send you a scan of the pages?
