  1. Thanks for joining my forum. It’s great to have you as a new member. LOVE your new page. I’m so glad you shared this with the world. Looking forward to doing some heavy-duty reading. I will place your link on my main site.

My dad was a 540th Combat Engineer (VI Corps). The VI Corps Engineers worked side by side with the 3rd Inf Division and the 10th Engineers.

  2. Melissa Hayes says:

I came across this while looking for information about my grandfather. His name is mentioned as being referenced but I can’t find his name within the journal entries. I believe Mr. Bruns may have just called him Jr. Do you happen to have any pictures that were labeled Jr.?

    Thank you,

    ~Melissa Hayes

  3. Mary Pugh says:

John, I am Mary (Barber) Pugh. My parents were Erv & Mae Barber – my dad being Snook’s brother. I saw on WCIA this morning (12-14-2020) a segment on the blog of your dad’s WWII experience. (I will tell right up front I am not very good at traversing the internet.) However, I wondered if you knew that Bill Barber’s oldest daughter, Lisa Wages, has letters that Snook wrote to Geneva during the war. She also has created a website “lettersfromsnook”. She is in the process of typing up each letter. My mother must have gotten rid of my dad’s letters at some point. However, I had letters that my dad and Geneva wrote back and forth. Geneva was writing everyone! Congratulations on your effort to make a part of history available online.
    Sincerely, Mary

    • John Bruns says:

Mary sorry for the late response, been dealing with some other issues and haven’t been here for a while. I have been following Lisa and communicated with her a couple of times. What fun to see how the two sets of documents intertwine. Thanks for reaching out, may touch base with you again about genealogy someday. John
