Letter home – August 29. 1943

19430829-Lscan-600Dear Mother & Dad;

Well I’ve only road you a couple of letters in the last 10 days so I had better start this week out a little better. I went into town today to mass. The church today didn’t compare with the church of last Sunday. It was beautiful all right, but that other church – – will you just can’t explain its beauty. I inquired about my allotment so don’t worry something is wrong somewhere. You should have received $45.00 a month starting May 1. I think I will go to town tomorrow. There’s not much there but at least you can get up away from camp. I have never received any of the candy in comic books yet. Maybe I will on one of these days. How is everyone at home? Have you heard from Snook lately. I’ll bet he is still in the states. Well at least I hope so. One of our family in combat is enough, because I know what it is like. Goodbye and I love you both.

Your son “Chick”
