Letter Home – April 17, 1945

19450417a-Lscan-600Dear Mother & Dad;

A guess that takes care of you all for the present. I know you have all been worrying about me, as the mail has not been coming your way. All I can say is I’m sorry. But the way this rat race is going I won’t have time for many letters so tell everyone hello for me, and I’m in the best of health.

I have been back for a couple of weeks now and we have been moving ahead every day. We get little rest. Now I have more worries. I am now acting supply Sargent and truck driver too. The supply Sargent went home so now I’m boss. It will be sometime before I’ll get home now but 19450417b-Lscan-600like I have said before the longer I stay over here the less chance I have of going to the Pacific. Boy is the division ever bagging the prisoners now! They put up little resistance so it shouldn’t last more than a couple of more months.

Being as I have little time I’ll bring this to a close. I know it isn’t much but it will relieve your minds a little that I’m okea. I’ll answer all of your letters soon, and lord knows I have a lot of them. Packages & letters were really stacked up and waiting for me when I got back. I must have had eight packages & fifty letters or more. I’ll answer them as soon as I can, but just have patience and don’t worry. I’ll get a letter home again soon. By by and your never out of my mind.

Your Son,
“Chick”
