Letter Home – May 11, 1945

19450511a-Lscan-600Dear Mother & Dad;

Boy oh boy but I’m having a hard time getting a letter home to you & dad. I have been so busy getting the equipment straightened out that I have little time for anything. I am on the go all the time. Say by the way how do you like my stationary. It came from Hitler’s home. Pretty fancy don’t you think. He had everything down in his tunnel. There was millions of dollars in paintings, etc. I never seen the like of it. His wine cellar was as large as our house and was completely full. I got about a dozen bottles of champagne. That’s what we were celebrating the end of the war on.

19450511b-Lscan-600The end of the war wasn’t much to us. Just another day. – – if you only knew just how hard it is to write a little now. I just can’t think of a thing to say, and I have saw so much. I know you are going to wonder when I’m going to come home. Well mom & dad don’t get your hopes up too much about me coming home so soon. There liable to send us to the Pacific. Besides when I come home I want to stay. It will be harder to leave this time than it was the first time I left.

19450511c-Lscan-600I know this isn’t much of a letter mother & dad but really I just can’t write any more like I used to. I could sit down and write five and six letters without stopping now I have a hard time writing to you both. Tell everyone hello for me and and one of these days I catch up on all my letter writing. There is $50.00 you can do with it what you want. If you need it use it, if not just put it in the bank. By By & I’ll again soon.

Love
Your Son
“Chick”

Here’s some negatives let me know as soon as they get home. Received a box of cookies the other day they sure were good.
