Dec 31, 1942 – Thursday

Wow! What a day. It is raining and snowing and sleeting all at the same time. It looks as if I am going to spend another day inside. Swanny is also very sick and has a high fever so they are taking him to the hospital. Boy the weather is sure getting the fellows. Tonight is New Years Eve and the first Sargent brought us in 3 quarts of old wine. I went down to the kitchen to get some grease to fry eggs with. They were getting turkeys and also making doughnuts so I ate about eight doughnuts and came back. We cooked eggs and drank wine until bed time.
