April 16, 1945 – Monday

A4P70-3-600We were up at about 5 am and as the lady of the house didn’t have enough eggs we took some sugar and went trading for eggs. We got enough so that eight of us had 4 eggs a piece. We then left for the bivouac area. As usual as soon as we were pulling in they were pulling out. So we went along. They crossed the river and moved into a new bivouac area. We didn’t stay long though and we were on our way again. We moved into Erlangen this time and there was still street fighting going on ahead of us. I wrote a letter home, first one since I have been back.
